Polar Bird, Wednesday, 21st November 2001

The 60° remaining elusive, as are the icebergs. The day was grey and foggy, with a strong NW wind. Sea, grey and menacing at exactly freezing point. One day is getting indistinguishable from any other with daily routine revolving around feeding times, much like the B grade video cassettes, many of which are getting a second airing. After lunch we watched a strange "safety?" video where scenes from "Das Boot" were grafted onto a Hagglund recovery demo. The Beaver lake group went through a thorough environmental briefing by Chunky, basically a re-write of "how to shit in the woods". The rest of the day went fairly uneventfully. The days were definitely drawing out as we made our progress south.
