Beaver Lake, Monday, 7th January 2002
The weather was fantastic today and Tom and I took off towards the GPS station at 8.30 am to make the most of the good weather, covering the 4km in just over an hour, following our old footsteps to make progress a bit easier. It certainly was, as the recompacted snow was very easy to walk on, and the shorter strides were even an inconvenience with the easier travel. There were a few bug fixes at the GPS site and we tried a few different settings to see what changes would be made but wouldn't know till next day. I successfully connected up an email connection with the satphone which worked unexpectedly well and after two and a half weeks was good to get all the Christmas and New Year greetings ! Tom and I arrived back at the camp a few hours late and Anya was really concerned for our welfare and a bit upset at our late arrival, Bless her cotton sox ! We turned in fairly early as the weather looked good for the next day and the news was good from Davis about choppers coming our way for the Dalton run!
